Reporting to the Head of Procurement in Victoria, the role of Category Manager will require you maintain a number of direct and indirect categories of spend and support the strategic direction of the procurement group. To do this, you will be required to:

    • Assist the manager to embed category management principles across the group

    • Develop and maintain detailed category strategies and prioritise the activities that will deliver value over the short, medium and longer term

    • Manage the commercial relationships with suppliers to deliver cost effective, innovative, quality and sustainable procurement outcomes which align to the category strategies

    • Ensure that sourcing activities are conducted in accordance with the category strategy including leading sourcing activities

    • Develop and maintain a supplier review schedule, tools and processes

    • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers

    This is a rare opportunity to join an established Business group in a greenfield procurement environment. This role will be recruited in conjunction with a number of other roles, meaning you will be a part of the team establishing the formalised central procurement function from the ground up. This will provide significant professional challenges as well as rewards. As the ideal Category Manager for this organisation you will ideally have a tertiary qualification in business, commerce, procurement or similar. In addition you will have:

    • Extensive knowledge and proven experience in Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management and Strategic Sourcing

    • Well-developed interpersonal, representation, communication and negotiation skills

    • Strong organisation and time management skills combined with a high level of analytical, problem solving and written communications skills

    • Strong influencing skills and an ability to effectively negotiate outcomes

    • Previous experience using SAP or similar large ERP system (Desirable)

    • Membership or accreditation through a professional body such as AAPCM, CIPSA or similar (Desirable)

In return for your skills and experience, you will be offered a permanent salary in the range of $110-$155k + 14% superannuation.
