The Events and Communications Officer is responsible for planning and executing all corporate events, assisting other departments to deliver successful events and for writing and producing communications materials.

The role:

    • Develop a planned and coordinated approach to all aspects of corporate event delivery including planning calendars, co-ordination of event working groups, event plans and briefings, management of suppliers, development of relevant processes and templates, evaluation systems and quality improvement.;

    • Ensure successful delivery of all corporate events including staff events, awards ceremonies, a CEO walk around, quarterly staff lunches, lectures, and special events;

    • Contribute to the development of event ideas, and co-ordinate and plan the delivery of a 12-month program for the monthly Staff Forum;

    • Write and produce, in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Manager, an internal communications email newsletter and other internal tools;

    • Work closely with the Digital Lead to develop engaging and effective EDMs and develop and maintain effective digital and other systems to manage RSVPs and stakeholder data;

    • Build productive relationships and collaborate effectively to support colleagues in HR to ensure successful delivery of quarterly forums and other engagement and development events;

    • When requested, provide event management advice and support to other departments and programs to ensure the successful delivery of their events;

    • With support from the Communications and Marketing Manager, manage event budgets, source and negotiate with existing and new sponsors and suppliers, and manage these relationships proactively to deliver the best possible outcomes;

    • Co-ordinate provision of event equipment and displays including film and still cameras, bollards, pull up banners etc. and co-ordinate their maintenance and replacement; provide simple training on equipment use;

    • Ensure event information is up to date and engaging on the corporate intranet;

    • Assist, when required, to update the social media pages;

    • Participate in any other projects as required and operate as an effective and supportive member of the Communications team.

    About you:

    • At least 3-5 years' experience working in a communications role, preferably within a complex organisation

    • Demonstrated experience with end to end management of successful small and large scale organisational events

    • Strong project management experience with ability to determine priorities, manage tasks under pressure, and organise self and others to successfully deliver outcomes on time and within budget.

    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships

    • Experience using EDM management tools such as Campaign Monitor; and experience using various CMS such as SharePoint and ToolBox.


    • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Public Relations/Marketing/Communications

    • Basic video editing skills using contemporary software platforms desirable.
