The Company


Our client is a highly respected Local Government Authority, with a focus on community innovation and development. Organisationally, they promote a culture of teamwork and commitment, where people enjoy their work environment.


The Role


Due to an upcoming deadline, our clients have multiple eight week contract role available on part time (0.6 FTE) and full time basis. Ideally working Mon-Wed, you will support the existing Governance team to support legislative compliance requirements and local community expectations. You will work closely with the Governance Manager as well as the Executive Leadership Team to provide effective support, research and analysis assistance and in a confidential and professional manner.


Key Duties


More specifically, your day to day work will include, but not be limited to:



    • Maintain and monitor the Policy Register and Delegations Manual, ensuring polices, procedures and delegations are up to date

    • Assist the Governance team with development and reviews of policies and procedures

    • Provide research and analysis report as requested

    • Attendance and minute taking at meetings

    • Updating agendas and minutes to Council website

    • Provide executive administrative support as required, including reconciliations, arranging travel arrangements and catering, and providing support at community consultations


    Skills and Experience


    To be successful in this role, you should have a thorough understanding of relevant LGA legislation applications, more specifically, in relation to the compilation of agendas, reports and minutes etc and procedure of Committees. You should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of local government functions, regulations and terminology.


    Ideally, you will also have:



    • Good project management skills and commitment to deliver timely outcomes

    • Excellent problem solving, conceptual and analytical skills

    • Fantastic oral and written communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

    • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes
