The Company:

An opportunity for an experienced Senior or Principal Structural Engineer (Highways) has become available with our busy public sector client. Our client is a leader in engineering transport design and can provide the right candidate with an influential role across their specialised Bridges team in Melbourne.

This position is for a proven Structural Engineer who can provide evidence of local market knowledge and works across major Australian Civil Infrastructure projects. This role will provide a major opportunity to work in client-side environments and provide a consultative approach within the busy public sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing input across various infrastructure projects assisting throughout design, modelling and site investigation for full project lifecycle
  • Run and lead design meetings
  • Manage specialised teams of Civil Engineers
  • Communication between nationwide specialists and stakeholders
  • Providing technical assistance, advice and insight across major Bridge and Infrastructure design, maintenance and inspection
  • Working with stakeholders and liaising across multiple internal and external specialists effectively
  • Prepare bids and proposals with follow up delivery to agreed budgets and timelines
  • Interstate management, advice and leadership
  • Full responsibility for large key Infrastructure projects from concept to completion

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Hold a relevant Degree of Engineering
  • Ideally have completed, or be in the process of completing, a PhD in relevant subject field
  • Have (or be approaching) RPEQ/CPEng status
  • A proven track record within Structural Bridges projects in Australia
  • Local understanding and proven local infrastructure design experience
  • Strong understanding of local and state Government procedures
  • Be comfortable using traditional and practiced methods of engineering
  • Be capable of running and contributing to technical meetings
  • Have confidence delivering technical structural design projects
  • Familiar across a range of structural design software packages
  • Hold strong interpersonal skills and can demonstrate technical leadership
  • Possess excellent communication skills
