Service Desk and Service Delivery Experience Essential

The Senior Business Analyst undertakes business analysis activities to identify, define and convert business requirements into recommendations and system designs for service desk collaboration and service delivery solutions giving consideration to ensuring effective collaboration across the organisation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, undertake analysis of business processes, investigating operational requirements, problems and opportunities, and identifying alternate solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assess feasibility and recommend new approaches to meet customer requirements, translating business requirements into system specifications in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Serves as a translator between technical teams and the client's business community to collect, clarify, analyse and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design from which applications and solutions are developed.
  • Prepare high level design documentation, liaising with other technical specialists to produce comprehensive applications/data designs across platforms.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of solution concepts and description.
  • Work collaboratively with the enterprise architects, business stakeholders and project managers to ensure successful and timely delivery.


  • Qualifications and training equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT or related field, or significant progress towards such qualifications, and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Significant experience in business analysis and requirements gathering, with the demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and peers to gather requirements, conduct analysis, produce solution designs and prioritise delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating productive stakeholder workshops or user interviews in order to rapidly and accurately elicit requirements or solution design
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to conceptualise, establish and implement new initiatives and innovative solutions within a specified framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to design IT solutions and to develop process mapping (as-is & to-be), data and systems documentation in accordance with industry standards.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to write clear and precise user and technical specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Experience writing detailed stories and epics, with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with product owners and the customer support areas.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with key process mapping tools (such as Visio or Confluence) and with the full Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience as a delivery lead or project management will be desirable but not mandatory
