About the role

Our local government client is currently seeking an experienced Digital Content Adviser to join them on a 3 month assignment based in the CBD. As the Digital Content Advisor, you will be working on a project which includes a full website redevelopment and implementation of a new content management system and supporting databases. You will also work collaboratively with the project team to provide digital communications expertise to the project.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting directly into the Senior Project Lead, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • researching, writing, editing and proofing digital content via a content management system
  • ensuring content adheres to general usability standards, the organisation's web style guide and general corporate style guidelines
  • ensuring web content adheres to Level AA WCAG1 Accessibility guidelines (essential)
  • provide advice on digital communications issues, and looks for opportunities to make improvements to deliver a quality site that provides vital information to customers
  • working with external suppliers and relevant internal stakeholders to deliver online content communication solutions
  • engaging with internal and external stakeholders and build strong and collaborative relationships with trust and credibility

Skills and Experience

As well as having a confident, energetic and outgoing personality, the skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Experience working as a digital content adviser within a local or state government environment (essential)
  • Proven working knowledge of HTML, CSS and content management systems.
  • Proven working knowledge of web publishing principles and techniques, with substantial experience in publishing images and content to websites, navigation and hyperlinks.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating accessible MS Word documents and ensuring their compliance
  • Demonstrated understanding of Web Accessibility Standards requirements and how to use screen readers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to develop effective working relations and good influencing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • A self-motivated team player with a can do, proactive attitude.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Communications/Business or equivalent
