Electrical Project Engineer- Ports and Infrastructure

Key responsibilities include:

We are currently working exclusively with State Government to deliver this position for an Electrical Project Engineer to work across Ports and Infrastructure environments.

The suitable candidate will be able provide evidence of understanding communication systems; radar, radio and tracking systems, but also look to progress towards project management involvement and support a capital works programme.

The role will be based within a busy State Government office focussed on developing local Ports and Infrastructure in a Melbourne CBD office. Take this opportunity to work across multiple projects, disciplines and stakeholder groups and develop your career towards fast-paced Project Management!

Day-to-day responsibilities will generally require a suitable Electrical Project Engineer to;

  • Coordinate planning, work scheduling and resources relating to the delivery of the projects in a port environment on multi-disciplined projects
  • Providing technical and project support to capital development programs, typically involved in communication system upgrades (ie. Marine navigation system upgrades)
  • Working closely with mentors and managers to deliver maintenance and engineering solutions
  • Support Senior Project Managers in the prepatation and administration of contracts in tender process through to delivery and completion
  • Liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
  • There will be a requirement to be 'on-call' for 1 week on and 1 week off periods, with the vast majority of issues being solved online and remotely from home; pool car and mobile provided
  • Create an environment where teamwork, accountability and the project progress are the focus of the team

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years experience in Electrical Engineering projects, with an ideal background in ports or infrastructure
  • Electrical Engineering understanding and a proactive mindset to use creativity and engineering knowledge on a broad range of projects
  • An electrical understanding or track record within communication systems is highly desirable
  • Provide evidence of prior stakeholder engagement and management experience
  • Be capable of working closely with Senior Project Managers in order to support a capital development program, with full project exposure (concept-completion)
  • Have confidence delivering technical projects and working closely with design consultancies, civil contractors and State Government stakeholders
  • Hold strong interpersonal skills and can demonstrate project management ability
  • Possess excellent communication skills and report writing
