Hudson is partnering with a large Government Department to recruit for the contract role of Principal Project Officer. The purpose of the role is to lead and provide specialist expertise to enable the successful delivery of large scale, complex Information Management (IM) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program/project(s).

The responsibilities of the role include:

Manage product based planning, risk management, reporting and project closure, and in addition analyse, plan and manage specialised work packages.

Ensure project management projects and products are managed in accordance with best practice guidelines and to enable the achievement of consistent and quality project outcomes

Manage, monitor and report on project related trends and performance against project plans and schedules

Develop formal and comprehensive program and project artefacts, templates, setups, guidelines and training manuals

Develop, review and endorse a range of project management tool configurations and setups by ensuring the content is correct and is consistent

Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships including coaching and mentoring of internal and external stakeholders on project management tool and standards related matters.

You will be assessed on your ability to:

Demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'Your role', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Demonstrated experience in a large scale, complex project environment, including product based planning, risk management, reporting and project closure, and an ability to analyse, plan and manage specialised work packages.

High level knowledge and application of appropriate project management methodologies (preferably PRINCE2), and an ability to provide expert advice on the use of appropriate project management techniques, planning methodologies and scheduling tools within projects and Project Management Offices.

Demonstrated ability to develop and manage one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, and facilitate the business change decision-making processes, and the planning and implementation of change.

Proven high level negotiation, consultation, facilitation and effective written and oral communication skills for use in a complex program/project environment.

Ability to lead, manage and mentor a small project team in relation to product based planning techniques.

Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members.
