Senior Program Officer AO6
8 Week Contract Role with possible extension
Experience in funding arrangements beneficial

Hudson is partnering with a Government Department to source a suitable candidate for the role of Senior Program Officer. The purpose of this position is to assist with the development, implementation and coordination of program initiatives for the Department.

The requirements of the role are as follows:

  • Develop and/or manage projects and programs that support the effective delivery of services relevant to the business unit.
  • Consult with staffs across the department and regional offices, government agencies, and community organisations to support the development of effective policy and program options to deliver and maintain quality services.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders towards the development and implementation of whole-of-government and/ or state-wide policy and program initiatives relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
  • Undertake research and provide advice to government and regional staff.
  • Prepare a range of written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material and key messaging, speech notes and information papers concerned with the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
  • Collaborate with other departmental staff in the management of communication and information activities to ensure broad awareness of issues affecting Queenslanders with disability.
  • Develop and maintain systems for the effective monitoring and review of policy and programs which are the responsibility of the business unit.

To be successful in the role you will need to possess the following:

  • Have knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, specialist disability services, including funding arrangements, models of service delivery and a broad range of departmental processes. You will also have accurate and proficient advanced excel function skills and experience in using databases for the analysis of data and information. You will have high level analysis and problem solving skills, with the ability to draw information together to provide accurate and considered operational and strategic advice including the impact of change - both internal and external - upon the department and its processes.
  • Understand the strategic objectives of the department and research and analyse information to draw accurate conclusions based on evidence.
  • Monitor and implement projects against plans, manage priorities and are responsive to changes in requirements, and values specialist expertise and capitalises on the knowledge that have clear and appropriate milestones, goals, timeframes and budgets, and maintain a focus on quality to achieve outcomes.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with team members, staff across the organisation and regions, stakeholders and clients, and treat people with respect and courtesy.
