Senior Project Engineer - State Government

About the role

This is a client-side role which will require a strong ability to communicate and coordinate across multiple construction stakeholders including contractors, councils, state government, consultancies, suppliers and sub-contractors across major infrastructure pre-construction and delivery.

We are looking for experienced Project Engineers to manage a variety of complex infrastructure contracts within state government and manage the delivery of road infrastructure, tram lane enhancement and works utilising strong stakeholder engagement.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Coordinate planning, work scheduling and resources relating to the delivery of the project
  • Coordinate and prepare pre-construction activities
  • Ensure quality and assist with the planning and implementation of minor works on site as required (includes works scheduling, review of traffic management plans & SWMS, and management of the works etc.)
  • Manage post completion delivery of projects across various contractors/sub-contractors
  • Ability to write business cases involved in tasks relating to traffic modelling, preliminary design, environmental investigations, land use planning, programming, project estimating etc.
  • Prepare and administer complex contracts
  • Assist in the preparation of risk management plans for contracts and projects
  • Coordinate construction and contract administration
  • Ability to identify problems, develop and assess alternative solutions and make recommendations
  • Exercise professional independent judgement to co-ordinate multiple projects, on time and within budget.; All facets for programming the scope, timelines (so physical control) and financial control
  • Exercise professional independent judgement to interpret drawings and specifications and anticipate potential construction and materials problems and issues, including undertaking on site surveillance of construction works to ensure compliance.
  • Provide sound advice on policies, procedures and programs to internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Undertake research and analysis activities regarding maintenance implications of proposed construction and maintenance works and develop and implement recommendations.
