12 month full time assignment contract
New Zealand Government support programme
Located in Honiara, Solomon Islands - To start February 2019

The New Zealand Government has partnered with the Government of the Solomon Islands to deliver significant infrastructure and asset management projects in Solomon Islands. The Infrastructure Project Manager will assist the New Zealand Aid Programme to deliver projects in country.

The Objectives of this role are to:

  • Provide technical and operational oversight of the New Zealand Aid Programme's infrastructure Activities in Solomon Islands.
  • Drive a solution focused approach in managing relationships with partner government agencies, contractors, other donors, and other stakeholders at the operational level.
  • Enhance & safe guard New Zealand's return on investment to infrastructure projects to catalyse economic growth and stability in the region.

The qualifications and expertise required to be successful in this role will include (among other things):

  • Must be NZ citizen or hold a NZ residence class visa.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.
  • Engineering qualification and minimum 3 years' experience in engineering, infrastructure project management or related field.
  • Experience in project and contract management (including finance and administration).
  • Sound planning and organising skills, and ability to prioritise workload and coordinate a range of tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to build, maintain relationships with internal and external peers / contacts, including partners in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Strong sense of customer service and passion for delivering high quality outputs.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Contract management activities and reporting
  • Availability to travel periodically including to developing countries.
  • Ability to interact well with the local community.

The Infrastructure Project Manager will provide critical support to the New Zealand High Commission to Solomon Islands, you will be required to build positive and productive relationships, have the ability to be politically sensitive and recognise the importance of stakeholder engagement; be self-managing and work independently; be highly organised and have self-motivated structured programme and reporting work habits and understand and respect the culture and diversity of the environment.

This role will appeal if you are interested in being part of a programme that directly contributes to the enhancement of local communities in the Solomon Islands. The initial assignment will be for 12 -months full-time (potential 12 month extension) with an anticipated start in February 2019, this role is located in Honiara, Solomon Islands, with travel to the provinces.
